One of the most popular online applications among young people are the social networking websites. When you are young, you are very trusting and believe that most people will be reliable. So you like to make “friends” and social networking websites provide a very convenient platform to make friends.
As you grow older, you learn from bitter experience, that most people cannot be trusted. So after a particular age, social networking seems to be a waste of time.

Though internet connections were available for over a decade, internet usage has become popular only in the last few years with the easy availability of low cost internet in many cities. At present most of the users of the internet are young, usually teenagers or in their twenties.
This could be partly because young people are early adopters of new technologies. The other reason could be that most educational institutions allow their students unlimited free internet access and once the students are familiar with the internet, they continue using it even after they complete their studies.
Though many offices place restrictions on the internet usage and connection for personal usage, young people who can afford it will get an internet connection at home. Others go to a cybercafe to access the internet for personal use.
